Disclaimer | Home Solar Guider

Home Solar Guider publishes information about home solar, net metering and US solar incentives. This page explains what that information is, and what it is not.

General

Everything on this site is published for general information. We work to get it right, we cite the sources we used, and we correct what we get wrong, but we cannot guarantee that every statement is accurate, complete or current at the moment you read it. Use your own judgement, and where the stakes are real, get advice from someone who can see your specific situation.

No professional relationship

Reading this site does not create a professional relationship of any kind between you and Home Solar Guider. We do not know your circumstances, and nothing here is tailored to them.

Not financial advice

This site explains how solar incentives, net metering and rate structures work. It is general information, not financial, tax, or investment advice, and it is not a recommendation to install or to wait. Decisions involving tens of thousands of dollars deserve a licensed professional who can see your actual bill and your actual roof.

Rules vary and change

Net metering, SRECs and rebates are set by state and by utility, and they change, sometimes on short notice. Figures described here reflect what the named authority published at the time of writing. Your own utility's current tariff governs, and it is the only thing that governs.

Installation is licensed work

Nothing here should be read as instructions to work on an electrical system. Solar installation, interconnection and any work inside a service panel is licensed, permitted and inspected work.

We link to other sites when they are the better source, usually because they are the primary authority on a point. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, or what happens after you leave here.

Limitation

To the extent permitted by law, Home Solar Guider is not liable for loss or damage arising from action taken, or not taken, on the basis of anything published here. That is the standard clause every publisher carries, and it exists because we genuinely cannot foresee how a general article will meet a specific situation.

Getting it wrong

We would rather be corrected than be wrong. If something here is inaccurate, tell us and we will fix it and say that we did. Our approach to that is set out in the Editorial Policy.
